About Me: I sooooooo wish I would have stuck with bowling back when I was younger. I have decided to enter some high profile tourneys now that I have been back in the game for a couple of years. Hope I am doing the right thing but I will never know unless I try. I am a certified Bronze Level Coach and enjoy working with clients young and old, beginner and intermediate. The advanced ones I leave for you, Stromie! :) I am a proud Special Olympics Volunteer Coach and enjoy that every Saturday morning at my center.
Music: Pretty much anything up beat that won't make my brain rattle. Have a new like, Timbeland, that "Apologize" song. Like Wyclef, Leona Lewis, etc...
Movies: The Game Plan, The Scorpion King, The Rundown, Walking Tall... are you sensing a theme here?
TV: Greys, Boston Legal, Criminal Minds anything with suspense that might make me think a bit. I also like light hearted TV.. loved Dharma & Greg way back when...
Books: Mark Furhman series, true crime and anything dealing with the criminal mind and how they were caught. I love the forensics side of it all. Science doesn't lie....
Likes: Working with my daughter on her left-handed game, playing with my beautiful Gordon Setter puppy... Pina Coladas!!
Dislikes: complaining about lane conditions, bad attitudes during the game...
Hobbies: Bowling, euchre, scrapbooking, travelling to new places and meeting new people. You never know who you just may run into...
Vices: I melt for old fashioned peach cobbler... piping hot peach cobbler with cold vanilla ice cream on top... Oh my... MMMMMMMMMMMMMM!!
Virtues: Still learning those...one I have found lately is be true to ones self and try not to say the right things all the time in order to please the one you may be with. You will only lose yourself in the process and it may take an eye opening conversation with a new friend to see...

    Ok PBA lge 2nd week

    Thursday, May 29, 2008, 10:54 PM [General]

Well.. tonight I was stubborn the first set, which led to my demise.. I gave in and moved 5 and 5 left the 2nd set which led to my victory. We were on the Scorpion pattern and I was trying to play up 8 standing on about 16.. washout.. washout.. 1 2 4... DUH??  Move??  NOPE!  washout.. washout...  Yet??  NOPE!!  This went on for 2 games and I got killed both games.

2nd set I finally gave in and went 22 to 16 and I went a bit light for a bucket.. covered it. Same shot 2nd frame and closer but still a touch light. Tom is bowling next to me (see last week's blog) and says "Whatever you do.. don't move." Ok. Next frame.. same shot. BAM!  next frame BAM!  Double?  No Way!  I won this match with a whopping 161 by 1 stinking pin and had to put 10 in the pit with my fill ball. 4th game stayed clean for a 207 which again was a victory.

I am learning which is the entire reason for joining this league. It is a hard shot, definately no house shot; but I am going to come out the other side of 12 weeks a much better bowler for this. I just know it.  Thanks, Tom for staying after tonight and helping me, it will be taken to heart for sure :).

    OMG!!! PBA Scratch...

    Friday, May 23, 2008, 10:54 AM [General]

Ok. I was sooo excited about doing this and I still truly am, but now I am a bit intimidated. Out of the gate, first week.. 152 average. YIKES!!  Not to mention I walk into the center and see Tom and some other familar faces that I know bowl regionals and the scratch travel league. I have never attempted anything like this before and the first 2 hours I was intimidated by all of this. Tom is a friend and helped me with an equipment decision after the first set. He is a nice guy, but I find myself questioning why am I on these lanes with HIM? He is a PBA member for pete's sake. I know in my heart that I am good enough to be here and started shooting 180's when I calmed myself down. That's the secret. To borrow some words from a friend.."give the lane what it wants". Thanks, Chris. :) I need to get an iPod so I can focus in my brain and not the people around me. I will be much better off.... I think this was the demise of my Queens competition too...

    Missi,

This league will really improve your game and consistancy in repeating shots. Hang in there and focus on those spares. I don't know if you are right or left handed but using your plastic ball for the 4,6,7, and 10 pins will help on a tougher condition. Best of Luck:)

    Missi,
Sorry to hear about why your getting tired, hope you get that all back on track soon. Keep up the good work. Sounds like your well on your way. But maybe something to keep in mind for long tournaments that has worked for me. I also use 16 lbs bowling balls but for long tournaments 14+ games in one day, I start with my 16 lbs bowling balls then about game 9 or so I go a mid to high 15 lbs. (15 lbs 12 oz. to 15 lbs 15 oz.)When I change to a the lighter ball in the late going I don't feel the difference and I don't give up any of the carry. Take care of yourself. And congrats on the Doubles. Vance

    Hi Missi,

I hope your bowling is going well. But I think we finally figured out the problem with the Bite. My middle finger was 1/16 off and I was not getting a good release off of by hand and so the ball was late turning over. It's amazing how little something like a 1/16 can make the ball just a litle off.

So hopefully we can get this ball rolling now but lately the lanes have been breaking down so fast I have not really needed to use it because they have dried out.
